Laser Hair Removal
Our treatments are truely a painless hair removal experience. This is one of the reasons we have thousands of happy clients who have done nearly two million sessions with us over the last decade. So whether you’re doing your arms, legs or the most sensitive of areas, you won’t feel any pain. If you have had or are new to permanent hair removal, we invite you to come and try our painless treatments and decide for yourself.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Most permanent hair removal treatments use either a laser or intense pulsed light (IPL) to disable hair follicles and prevent the growth of hair. At Skin and Laser Mount Waverley, we use specially-designed IPL machines which emit short pulses of light that penetrate the skin and create heat which in turn destroys the hair producing follicle. Over the course of several sessions, as most follicles in the treatment area (eg. underarms) are destroyed, you’re left with only hair free skin. This is the basis of all permanent hair removal treatments, and virtually all areas of the body can be treated.
IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL SAFE?
Permanent hair removal is completely safe when done with high quality equipment and experienced, qualified therapists. Because the treatment uses only light (no chemicals, radiation, etc) there’s no damage done to your skin, and only hair follicles are affected. Therapists should be experienced and must hold current laser safety certificates to be properly qualified.
DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL HURT?
Generally, all laser and IPL hair removal treatments hurt. It feels something like a rubber band being flicked against your skin. It’s not pleasant, especially in more sensitive areas. Skin and Laser Mount Waverley IPL treatments, however, are painless.
WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LASER HAIR REMOVAL AND IPL?
The key difference between the two treatments is that IPL uses a broad spectrum of high-intensity light, which is emitted at multiple wavelengths, whereas Laser emits a single focused precise wavelength that's optimised for maximum follicle absorption. It is often mistaken that IPL and Lasers are the same. IPL is an Intense Pulse Light that treats using a full spectrum of light wth a different scattered wavelengths, while a laser uses one specific wavelength of light, the colour of the hair follicle is the target.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO YOU NEED FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4-6 week intervals. Each part of the body has a different hair growing cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment. However at least 10 treatments are required for a permanent results
